I go in to BRC during the week and if you get to the range after about 10:30 and before 15:00 you will often be the only shooter there. If you go early in the morning, you can have as many as ten people between the 25yd., 50yd., 100yd., and 200yd ranges When I joined they had a total membership of 325. It is now over 500.P.S. I thought that was Weld County. What city is going to - potentially - put in a stop signal for one business with 25 per hour traffic?

That's always the challenge, finding the slow times. But once you do it's pretty consistent. Regarding your earlier TTGC questions/comments, here is Paul's response: re: baffles "We have had this designed by a competent Sound Engineer. What we are doing is very similar in design to the Front Range Gun Club building that has a business immediately on either side of it. We have done things such as sound-proofing insulation on the walls and ceiling and behind the firing line. We have also sound-sealed all doorways and heating/air conditioning duct work and vents. If we need to add more sound proofing to the walls, we will do that but at this point I believe that we are very well covered." re: cinder block walls "There has been special attention and design in our CMU walls. Everything is solid grouted with open-end CMU at every block. Again, this is the same construction as Front Range Gun Club, except we have gone to even more stringent design criteria for our building. Rocky Mountain Shooters Supply is also made from cinder blocks. The design of our walls should be able to withstand a direct 90 degree impact from any rifles that will be allowed in our range. We will not allow 50 BMG as our traps are not designed for that." re: traffic light at Highway 119 "We are indeed in unincorporated Weld County. The appropriate time for us to start our quest for a traffic light is not before we open but after we open. We do not want to have to do traffic impact studies or any other type of survey/study that could delay our opening. As soon as we have been open for business for a short while and don't need any additional signatures or approvals from Weld County or the State of Colorado, we will start pursuing a traffic light. Let me remind everyone that this is a State Highway with proper ingress and egress designed to be used by this Business Park business owners as well as their customers, in addition to the 400 homes using this same intersection that is currently in place. It is not like I just built a dirt road in the middle of a field and am trying to ask members to use it. We have owned a business within this Business Park for the last seven years and I assure you that at rush hour you may have to wait a minute or two to turn west onto Highway 119, but for the most part this is not a problem." If anyone is interested in asking more questions or viewing current TTGC build progress the next on-site meeting is Sunday, October 4th from 4 to 6 p.m.. I'll be there. |

RE: TTGC
Paul & co are putting the final touches on things over at TTGC and it should be opening RSN. I'm looking forward to the next newsletter as Paul told me last week that the next edition would be arriving any day now and should have a nailed-down GO date. The wife and I have a "Couples" membership at TTGC so are all set. I'll be running their (private) online members forum which I have all set up over on Delphi. Feel free to contact me with questions, keeping in mind I only run the forum; I'm not on the staff. Trivia: For any original ex-FRGC members, you probably remember Ken Nelson. Ken is now onboard at TTGC as their Range Operations and Training Manager! Note: Once open, I'll be curious to hear feedback from any Whistling Pines members who might visit TTGC since much of the latter is modeled on the former. |

Been a while since I checked back. I haven't had occasion to travel to the Boulder/Longmont area in over a year.
But I shall be back out there again in April and June. Did that range in Longmont ever get built? If so is it open to the public or a "members only" place. What is it with all the ranges out there requiring memberships? In Georgia I can go to any range and go shooting. Colorado want me to fork out big bucks to join a club. Not cost effective for me since I don't live there... |

TTGC opened end of January. This is a club that includes two indoor ranges. IMO, generally that is the distinction; a club is private, a range is public some or all of the time. Plenty of ranges around the country, plenty of private clubs....it's not specific to Colorado.
Often the clubs that are private have indoor ranges, which are much more expensive to build/maintain. Here's a somewhat dated list for Colorado. |

I see what you are saying but last time I was up there I asked at the couple of gunshops I went to and they all said there are NO public ranges up there, they all require memberships.
Our ranges here have memberships available, but they are all open to the public at an hourly rate as well. I'm going to be there over a couple of weekends and it would be nice to knock out some range time. I'll have to look for that new one. I am staying right near the Old Chicago restaurant. About how far is Triggertime from there? Damn just looked at the website and it says: Quote:

Mmm...I take what I hear from gun shops with a grain of salt and a pound of doubt. Last I heard, RMSS is a good public indoor range...never been there myself. About a 45 minute drive from where you'll be staying. TTGC is of course much closer...about 15 minutes, but you'd need to be a Guest. I think the Guest passes are $20. Depending on schedules, maybe you could go with us...usually Sat mornings from 9-10am. Send me a PM sometime if interested. |

Yup, I called and confirmed it. Members only...
Well that sucks... Front range supposedly will let you shoot twice without being a member, at $25 per day... Is there NOWHERE up in the Boulder / Longmont area I can shoot for an hourly rate and no membership?? I've very frustrated... Every time I head out there and am staying over a weekend I'm bored outa my skull and would love to get in some shooting...
