I'm looking into building my first AR. I'm looking for a stripped lower for around $100. I've found them online for about that or just lower but then you have to figure in FFL transfer and shipping. Green Mountain has RRA stripped lowers for $139. Does anyone know a local (to Denver) place that has good prices on stripped lowers? How about the gun shows? What do prices usually run there?

Sorry for the late answer...just saw the thread. I think $139 is probably about the going rate.
However, you can get a mil-spec stripped lower from R-Guns right now for $55. Pretty hard to beat...even considering shipping and transfer fees. You should come in under that $100 mark. http://www.rguns.net/rifles/rifles-s...d.shtml#SHARPS |

I've heard mixed reviews about the $55 lowers from rguns. I went to the gun show this last weekend and found prices from $130 to $160. I also ran into a friend that has some Spikes Tactical lowers coming in for $110. I think I'm going to go that direction.

Get the Spikes ... its probably one of the best lowers for the money.
There is a tendency for RRA stuff to be a little out of milspec (still quality parts, but it can be difficult to mix and match with other parts sometimes). |

Look at Stag Arms for a lower. I just put a RRA lower together tonight with a Stag Upper, took an hour with no special tools. Shooting tomorrow!!
I would be skeptical of a lower for $55, would rather pay a retail and get a known good lower. With the price of rifle kits to put them together, a quality AR can still be put together for less than $800 total.

I went with a Del-Ton upper and a Spikes lower. Total cost was about $675. I've shot it several times and am very happy. Thanks for the input! I went to the Tanner Gun Show at the beginning of December and won't be going back. Prices were ridiculous!
