Default Phoenix Stronghold IWB Holster by Occidental Leather

Hello All,

I recently purchased a new holster for my Sig P228 called the Stronghold Phoenix IWB Holster. This holster is made by Occidental Leather (http://www.bestbelt.com/). The company has been around a long time (since 1980 I believe) making quality tool belts/holders and now are trying their hand at making all-leather gun holsters. This holster was designed by Tim Thurner of TTGunLeather. A picture and details of the Stronghold Phoenix can be found at:http://www.ttgunleather.com/catalog/i72.html

I would put this holster up against my Milt Sparks VMII any day of the week. The build and material quality seem to be in the same class as the VMII. It looks like the Phoenix has more forward cant than the VMII does. Since I've only had it a week there is not much more I can say other than what I noticed about the build and material quality. The pistol fits nice and snug into the holster. Even my P225 and P239 seem to fit well. I'll leave the pistol in the holster and stick it in the safe for the next week or so until I'm ready to start wearing it and breaking it in.

Some things that are noteworthy:
Since the holsters have been just released the wait time to receive the holster is unbelievable. I received mine in about 10 days and I had to wait a little longer than others because I ordered a left-handed holster. IMHO the price you pay for the short wait time is literally the price you pay. Mine cost $145 plus shipping. I think you can find other like quality all-leather holsters like TT's own IWB for about $30 or so less. On the flip side I've seen some of their right-handed holsters for sale at ebay for a lower price of about $115(probably to help get the product out into the market).
Also, the only options available are: left or right-handed, black or brown, and 1.25,1.5 or 1.75 leather belt loops.

UPDATE: Pics added!

Here's pics of the holster:

Here's some pics of the holster along side my Milt Sparks VMII:

So far after wearing the holster for a while it seems to be breaking in nicely. The retention is still quite tight. The pistol doesn't move around or shift in the holster at all (not like my Kydex holsters). The only issue I've had so far is that my front sight (XS Sight Systems Big Dot) seems to scrape on the front sight channel a little bit when drawing (sight has some leather particles on it when this happens). I imagine the leather from inside the sight channel will smooth out in time.

I would definitely say that I'm satisfied and impressed with this holster. The Phoenix Stronghold meets my expectations of a great quality, custom made, all leather IWB holster.

BTW my apologies if the previous title confused anybody into thinking I'm selling them (I'm not if anyone's wondering).

Patrick

Nope, just don't have anything that fits.

Your subject line sounds like you have one for sale. Then you make a lot of open ended comments. Add to that the price is about twice what would be paid elsewhere.

What's to discus?

Looks very nice.

How would you compare it to your CBST and MTAC comfort wise?

Although the holster took some time to wear in to my side (more than the hybrids) I think now it's just as comfy as my MTAC and my CBST.
