I decided to bite the bullet and spend some money on a - green - laser. I have one of the CT for one 1911 and it is fine, at night or in low light. During the day you can not see it for more than five or eight feet (not that you would "need" one during the day, but I want to try it).
From all that I can find the green laser is easily visible during the day as well as at night. The major problem with the green laser is that you see where the source is, if you were the bad guy. A lot of people think that is the case for the red ones, but they watch too much TV, in fact many TV shows are going to the green laser so that it - does - show up as they film/video-tape. It is due in tomorrow so if it stops raining/snowing per the forecast, I'll try it Sunday (hope, hope, hope). Should be interesting. I got it from Midway and it shipped the same day. I checked today (to get the link) and they are out of stock on the one I got until about mid May). If you do look at the link you will see it says for the Taurus PT 24/7. That Taurus has the standard Picatinny rail (took a bit of looking to find that out - sigh). Wish me luck.

No laser yet, I'll hope for tomorrow (and no rain).
Oops, forecast is for rain/snow tonight. It may be Tuesday for the range. SIGH!

Got it out to the range yesterday. Overall, unimpressive. It is visible in bright sunshine to about 35 feet.
That is the most positive thing I can say. Adjustments are non-linear, which is they muse be made in gross magnitudes (if you need a small adjustment, you make a large adjustment in the opposite direction and then come back to where you wanted to be. ![]() Oops, forgot one other positive item. You can set it up on one gun and put it on another without having to re-zero. The one I have is for the PT-24/7 (if you are thinking about a 24/7 - forget it. Nice features, poorly implemented) but it will go on a 1911 with no problems, but not a Sig P220 (trigger guard shape). The other really annoying thing is the on/off switch is so sensitive that you turn it on when you do not want to. I'll stick with CT units.
