I've tried precision bullets for my .40 S&W, wasn't that impressed with the quality. I was using light lead loads and still getting lots of leading. I've since then tried xtreme bullets, which are plated, and there again they are just OK. Just be careful with the xtreme .45 230gr RN, they are an extremely odd shape, and may require you to play with lengths a bit. Also used berry's, I would rate xtreme bullets a bit more consistent than berrys IMO. Maybe I'm just not fond of plating? I dunno

Now all I shoot is montana golds, work great for range practice and awesome for competing. Others at comps say "If it ain't Montana Gold, its ****", I'm not sure I'll go quite that far yet :-) I do shoot around 1-2k rounds a month, and even with montana golds costs come out to about .20 cents a round. I now only clean my barrel with solvent at about the 2-3k mark, just using a bore snake after shooting sessions. I clean the rest of the gun, but spending time on the barrel just seems to not be worth it to me anymore. Since I've been doing this, heavy leading/fouling in my barrel simply isn't an option.

Practice smart, practice hard, practice perfect. Make your practice count, use good reliable equipment, its not just 'play' time :-D
