Evan, thanks for taking on the challenge of this forum.
I have a question. I tried searching the forums for "RTD". I got no "returns". But I am certain there was a discussion about concealed carry on an RTD bus. I saw a thread about concealed carry on an ATV. Then I tried searching for ATV, but the search still found no entries. are searches for three characters not allowed? If not, why? Can this be modified? I can come up with all sorts of reasons why this would be a good feature, and no reasons why it might be a problem. Here are examples of three character searches that might be handy: RTD, GUN, 308, .22, BUS, AMT, JHP, BILL, BAN, LEO, COP. It this is just a function of flipping a switch I vote for flipping it. If it is some complicated programming issue, or if there are complications I haven't anticipated, I get it. Thanks for all your efforts. Thanks! |

Just for grins, I tried RTD+CARRY for the search argument and it did find the thread titled "RTD carry" but it found a LOT of them that did not mention RTD. That's called BAD (Broken As Designed).

I think Pat-inCO had the best info for now, I will have to look into this, I'm not familiar with the search program.

Thanks, and remember it isn't a critical issue, but it would be handy. |

I checked into the search problem. It is set to allow 25 results, and words as small as 1 character. If it doesn't find something it doesn't exist.

1) It returned 319 results 2) I had it set to look for threads (vs posts) [the only two options] The vast majority of search engines accept the plus sign (+) as a "look for both". This one obviously doesn't. AND, if you search for RTD - only - it finds nothing. As I said, Broken As Designed.

Typically a search returns less hits when you add search parameters. Search for "RTD carry" and you typically get less hits than a search for "carry". In Boolean talk that is an AND search. But this forum searches for all messages with any of the terms, which is an OR search.
Searching for "Blackhawk carry" in this forum could return messages without carry in it or without Blackhawk in it. Because it will look for Blackhawk or carry. For instance you might find a post about a Ruger Blackhawk, which may have nothing to do about carrying in Blackhawk. Searching "RTD+CARRY" or "RTD CARRY" returns the same result. Apparently the + sign is not recognized at all. |
