Just got a Taurus 24/7 .45 and shot it for the first time last night. I was pretty disappointed with the accuracy as it shot way low and to the left. I put 15 rounds through it and I think it was getting better but not sure. I cleaned the barrel after every round for the first 5 rounds. Has anyone had this experience with this or any other new gun? And yes, it could have been me but I took my Glock 9 as well and shot a pretty fair pattern with it. Ideas/Input?

I have a 24/7 and have been a bit underwhelmed with mine as well.
It has a number of WONDERFUL features, that are implemented in a less than perfect manner. From what you are saying, I'll bet your problem is pushing - - presuming you are Right handed. I had two sessions last week and the second one was a disaster. After - not - shooting the plate rack very well, I put up a paper target and got low-right hits (I'm Left handed). - My solution is to say to myself "sights squeeze, sights squeeze, sights squeeze . . . . until it goes off. If it surprises me, I count the the shot (and a very large percentage are where I want them, with that mantra). The 24/7 (at least mine) tends to hang up just as it's about to release the shot. When it does that, you tend to mash the trigger to get it to go off when you want it to. That pushes the shot low and away from your dominant hand (right hand = left, left hand=right). I tried adding just a dab of grease to the striker, and that helps for about eight or ten rounds. Then it's back to where it was. - - With that said, I would not be surprised that a few thousand rounds down range will help a lot. Now if I can just find someone to buy the ammo . . . . ![]() Another thing just came to mind: Perhaps a thousand or so dry-fire cycles would help. Humm, I think I'll try that. .

have to add the same thing, friends taurus 24/7 in .45 low and to the left. No matter which of us was shooting it. He wanted me to try it and make sure it wasn't him, it wasn't. He bought a used springfield xd in 45 and it shot exactly where you pointed it with the same ammo. Go figure.

Dennis . . . .
I worked on mine last night and discovered a bit of over-travel on the trigger. I noticed it would jump a bit when dry-firing so I started looking. Turns out that the trigger was hitting the trigger guard. I have some very small files and was able to get the inside of the trigger-guard cut just enough that the trigger no longer makes contact. I would guess at around 1/16" (1/8" = .125). I just worked it slowly and took off a little and checked, took a little off and checked, etc. Took about twenty minutes. The jump as the striker releases is no more. ![]() Not sure if all of them do that, but worth a check.

I use to be an owner of a 24/7 9mm then traded it in for the 24/7C DS .45 and also bought the OSS DS .45, So I have have some experiance with them. I have noticed that many shooters that are new to Taurus or Hiene sights have the low and left issue. Honestly don't know what it is but most of the time, almost all the time it's the shooter.
I had same problem but once I got comfortable with the point of aim and over travel of the trigger all 3 firearms were extremely accurate. I would suggest just practicing with it more and you should find the problem diminish as time goes on. |

Pat - Put your theory to the test last night and being right handed was a correct assumption on your part. Anyway, with that knowledge and awareness of the situation I was able to shoot much better. So I'm liking this gun more and more now. Thanks for the input.

I have a PT1911 in .45 with the Heinie sights, and it's a TARGET GENIUS. I couldn't be happier with it; it's been a wonderful handgun.
I have often thought about an OSS 24/7 because it seems like both a great value and an innovative design. When I am back out of school and a productive citizen again I will may buy one in .45 to have as a fun-gun for laughs. |
